The Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482) allows Australian employers to sponsor skilled overseas workers to fill eligible positions where skilled workers are needed. Three Streams of the Subclass 482 Visa
Specialist Skills Stream
For highly skilled workers whose nominated position and salary meet the requirements for the Specialist Skills stream.
This stream is available for eligible occupations across specified ANZSCO major groups and is designed to help Australian employers access highly skilled professionals quickly.
Core Skills Stream
For skilled workers nominated in an occupation included on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) and who meet the applicable requirements.
The nominated occupation, position, salary and applicant's skills and experience must satisfy the relevant visa criteria.
Labour Agreement Stream
For workers sponsored under an approved labour agreement between an Australian employer and the Australian Government.
The agreement can contain specific occupations, salary arrangements, concessions and other conditions depending on the type of labour agreement.
Sponsor Obligations — Employer
Become an Approved Sponsor
The employer must meet the applicable sponsorship requirements before sponsoring overseas skilled workers (Standard Business Sponsor).
Nominate the Position
The employer nominates an eligible skilled position and provides the required information about the role, occupation, salary and employment arrangements.
Worker Lodges the Visa Application
The skilled worker can lodge the Subclass 482 visa application once the relevant nomination requirements are satisfied. The nomination and visa application may also be lodged in circumstances where concurrent lodgement is permitted.
